Can you access yours? Do you know what it is, what you could be?
We all contain individual purpose and potential, and yet so many of us go through days, that turn into weeks, that turn into months, that turn into years and lifetimes not reaching for our unique purpose - what we can each potentially be, and contribute to each other, to the universe.
Our lives pass by, and end. Along the way we let the unconscious and subconscious minds take charge, leading us blindly through moments of little importance that we deem all-encompassing. We let singular, passable instances dictate and determine so much, ruin days, ruin relationships. We let very important moments pass through us without reaction, quickly forgiven and forgotten, ignored for the sake of ease and the comfort of others at our own expense. We choose to be small and silent instead of asking firmly for what we need; space, attention, respect, support. We devote energy and precious time attaching ourselves to non-issues and distractions.
We don’t believe we have purpose and potential because, perhaps, we don’t know what “it” is. There becomes no need or desire to reach for, explore, or attempt to discover something we don’t believe exists.
Or, we know what our potential is, our purpose, and maybe we even get close enough to taste and relish in its significance and importance, but life happens, and can take us off the path that leads to our true self. Maybe we aren’t able to get back on course. Maybe we stop trying to do so.
Yoga is about many things, and comes with many definitions. However, one could certainly say that yoga is a collection of tools, a roadmap and instruction manual that can guide you on your path to your true self; your path to discovering and unlocking your potential and purpose. Yoga includes a physical asana practice, sure, but there is so much more beyond the poses and use of the physical body.
I got very, very lucky choosing Zuna Yoga the first time round. My 200 hour training was evolutionary and a true life event that helped me see where I could go, physically, but also personally and professionally, all on the path to my purpose and utilizing my full potential.
This time, for my advanced 300 hour teacher training, choosing Zuna Yoga was no accident. My life, my home, my relationships, my perceived potential and purpose; they’ve all changed and evolved between my first go-round with Zuna Yoga and this one. I have spent this inital week here in the same shala I learned in two and a half years ago absorbing the lessons, challenging myself to peacefully rise and go deeper, and anxiously anticipating the breath that is to come.
I feel so lucky and emotionally charged to be here in the Zuna bubble, surrounded by likeminded energy burning in and out from the others who surround me everyday as we reach further and climb higher toward this goal: accessing our true selves, our potential.
My true self is here, within me now. It will be home with me when I travel back to the states. Our lives pass by, and end. Life isn’t long, and it isn’t short, it simply is. You don’t know how long you have. So, what will you do with your time? What could you be if you discovered your true self, the potential you carry, and always have? It is in you, always there, but will you seek it?
